A promising development in regenerative therapy is the shift towards synthetic biomaterials such as Cytrans Granules. Composed of carbonate apatite, Cytrans Granules offer excellent osteoconductivity and are gradually replaced by host bone. Free from animal-derived materials, they provide a consistent, safe and scalable alternative to conventional grafts. In this interview, Dr Paul S. Rosen, diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, and Prof. Anton Sculean, chair of EuroPerio11, share their experiences with Cytrans Granules and discuss the material’s clinical performance, biological potential and role in shaping the future of regenerative periodontal and implant therapy.
