As digitalisation increases and artificial intelligence (AI) introduces new possibilities, workflows, diagnosis and treatment processes are becoming more efficient. Much of these advancements concern restorative dentistry, and that has traditionally been the focus of the International Dental Show (IDS). Increasingly though, preventive dentistry too has been gaining attention at the event. Of course, this makes sense because it remains crucial to maintain existing restorations to ensure their longevity, and good oral health is fundamental. Consider that, in Germany, around 35 million people are affected by periodontitis—and even the most perfectly crafted ceramic crown or a state-of-the-art implant cannot change that.
