Prof. Lior Shapira, the scientific chair of EuroPerio11, which will take place fom 14 to 17 May, brings a wealth of experience to the helm of this premier congress. As professor of periodontal research at the Hebrew University–Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine in Jerusalem, he has been instrumental in advancing periodontal science. His tenure as president of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) from 2021 to 2022 was marked by significant strides in the promotion of diversity and global collaboration in the field. In this interview, Prof. Shapira discusses his vision for EuroPerio11, new educational formats and key themes in the programme, and the importance of engaging a diverse, international community.
